I've recently stumbled across something new on Amazon.com called MTurk.
The URL for it is http://www.mturk.com. So, what is it? It's basically
a way to make a small amount of money for completing a task that
requires human intelligence. Tasks that computers can not do.
Currently there are thousands and thousands of HITs (Human Intelligence
Tasks) on the site for the A9 BlockView project. (Photos of
storefronts). These are paying $0.03 per HIT completed. I've been
spending a few hours doing them myself over the past day, and have
already made over $10 in my own personal account, so they add up! And
each one only takes a few seconds to do. (Though if you're on dialup
it'll be longer, obviously).
Now, how can this help raise money for Team Artail? Well, I've created
a seperate account that all Artail supporters can login to for doing
these tasks for a combined pool of money that will go toward the site!
Basically, anyone who wants to do a little bit of clicking to donate to
TA, can login and do it. The more people who do it, the better, as the
combined efforts of a lot of people can raise a lot of money for the
site! So, here's directions on how to do it if you want to give it a
shot and support TA at no cost to you :)
1. Head over to www.mturk.com
2. Take a look over the details of the site and how it works if you
haven't already, or if you're curious, of course.
3. Login as user artiep at gmail.com with the password artailturk
4. This should bring you to the "Dashboard" screen, with compiled
statistics. To find HITs to work on, click the HITs tab at the top of
the page.
5. You'll now see a list. On the right side of these rows is listed the
reward for each task ($0.03 for the A9 BlockView tasks), and the number
available. If there are none available when you look, just check back
an hour later, more are continuously added! The rest of these
directions will be fore the A9 BlockView Image Adjustment tasks.
6. To work on a HIT, just cecide which city you want to go with
(recommend one with a lot of HITs) and click the "View a HIT in this
group" link on the far right side of the page for it.
7. Now, you'll be brought to a page with the name of a business, and the
address of that business, along with 8 photos. The idea is to choose
which photo best represents the storefront, building entrance, or
address of the business. As the directions state. If none of them do,
then choose 'None of these pictures represent the business'.
8. You must accept the HIT displayed to you before you can work on it.
So as soon as it comes up, if you want to do it, then click the "Accept
HIT" button. If you don't like the one it gave you, then you can click
the "Skip HIT" button to see a different one.
9. Once you accept the HIT, just do like the directions said and pick
the best photo of the bunch for the business listed at the top of the
page. Be sure to do it as accurately as you can, as the HITs are
evaluated and get approved or rejected. Only approved HITs are paid
out, so don't blindly click! Once you've decided, click the Submit HIT
link at the top (or bottom) of the page. That's it! Then continue to
the next HIT and do it as many times as you want to keep earning money
for TA!
It's up to you how much time to spend on it. Come back every day for a
while to continue to give more money for the site by completing these
simple tasks. :) I'm sure those directions look like a lot of work, but
once you know how to do it, it literally takes only a few seconds to
complete a HIT. Let's see how much money we can earn together ;D
One final note. If I see anyone attempting to transfer the earned money
to a bank account or an Amazon gift certificate, then I will cancel this
whole thing and close the account. The earned money is to be
transferred only by myself to my own bank account to go toward paying
for TA's costs. You folks just work on the HITs as a way of donating to
the site.
I hope many of you will give this a shot, and put in some time if you
don't have anything else to do. Those of you with hours of free time to
waste could surely raise quite a bit of money ;) I thank you for your
support! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me back.
